The MS in Patent Law and the Certificate in Patent Prosecution are not accepting or considering applications.

Increase the value of your science or engineering degree. Notre Dame’s Master of Science in Patent Law teaches the information needed to pass the USPTO’s patent bar, and the skills necessary to practice as a patent agent.

America’s economy is increasingly focused on innovation-driven products, which must be legally protected, usually through patents. However, despite an exponential increase in new patent filings, the number of new patent practitioners registering with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has remained steady over the past five years.

In the one-year Master of Science in Patent Law program, the newest developments in the patent legal world are taught through a hands-on curriculum by currently practicing patent attorneys and agents. Students draft a real, fileable patent application based on a real, Notre Dame-owned invention. The Master of Science in Patent Law degree is awarded by the University of Notre Dame's College of Science.
